President Obama proved his technology savvy yet again by hosting the first live, online town hall meeting given by a president on Thursday.
Using the Internet as his lane of communication, Obama answered six of the over 104,000 written and video questions submitted by nearly 93,000 people.
Those who visited WhiteHouse.gov could submit questions as well as vote on those entered by others. The questions with the most votes were the ones President Obama answered.
Many of the questions and video inquiries were about the economy.
“One of the things that my budget is designed to do is by fixing our education system, by reducing cost of health care, by going after the clean energy jobs of the future trying to put our economy on a more solid footing,” Obama said.
On a humorous note, the proposal of legalizing marijuana as a way to boost the economy was another popular topic on the website, but Obama was quick to reject this idea.
“No, I don’t think that is a good strategy to grow our economy,” Obama said, chuckling along with the audience.
The administration hopes this tactic of visible governing will help to increase public approval.
