Onondaga County Executive Joanne Mahoney has created what she calls a stimulus “Swat team” to help Onondaga County get as much money as possible from the recently passed federal stimulus package.
Mahoney first introduced her stimulus “Swat team” made up of top county executives at her State of the County address on March 3rd.
At her address Mahoney showed a sense of optimism for the county even though the recession and state budget cuts have forced programs to be cut.
"There are a lot of things on our wish list that we want to do, but 2009 is not the year. And I think the community wanted to hear that we have our heads above water, which we do," Mahoney said.
She hopes the stimulus "SWAT team will find money for the rebuilding of roads, green infrastructure products, and ways to fix the sewage problems effecting Onondaga Lake and Onondaga Creek.
